The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible and accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process. She/he implements the Nursing Service standards of care and practice, as appropriate to the ages of the patients served and the areas of clinical practice. Utilizes the nursing process in the systematic assessment and formulation of individualized plans of care to meet patient’s needs. Collaborates with other health care disciplines to coordinate patient care activities and discharge plans. Inspect room to ensure room is ready for appropriate procedures. Check patients chart prior to procedure to ensure proper consent, identification, and medical chart is present. Ensure correct instruments or equipment are correctly selected for appropriate procedures. Responsible for calling time out before procedure. Blood Glucose Monitoring. Performs glucometer control tests according to manufacturer guidelines and Nursing Service Policy and Procedure
Interprets abnormal/critical value BGM results and performs appropriate interventions according to Nursing Service Policy and Procedure. Utilizes restraint alternatives. Adheres to Patient Fall Policy and Protocol as defined in Nursing Service Policy and Procedure. Demonstrates use of two (2) identifiers prior to performing medication administration, procedures/treatments and collecting specimens. Provides pre-op care and patient instructions and documents post-op. Verbalizes the nurses responsibility in the consent process. Position will work at both the Andrus and Dobbs Ferry Pavilions.
Currently licensed and registered to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York. Preferred 1-2 years experience in O.R. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
